The Connection was formed in 1998 and has been going fast and furious every since. Based in a small town (about 400 people) near the Wyoming border with beautiful mountains and Flaming Gorge Lake outside our doors, we are very fortunate to have our select group of horses. (Pictured above is D&S Proud Mary.) Our small herd is about 75 percent Seth Thomas bloodline. Most of our purchases have come from Dale Lutke. After all who knows more about Seth than Dale!
We have been involved with the Seth Thomas bloodline for 10 years now. We have yet to see the limits of these outstanding horses. I think back on our first national show and I am amazed at how far the horses have progressed through the years. I see pictures of Seth Thomas in the old journals and I truly wish I could have seen him in real life. I have no doubt he could hold his own in a hand class today. It is still inspiring to me that we own horses from this great stallion. Seth’s fame has carried down through generations and who knows? Maybe I have one that someone will remember in 20 or 30 years. I do believe in this bloodline.
The Connection has had several outstanding horses that go back to the great Seth Thomas, probably the one known the best was BHR Lerwick #138812A \ 18140, a stallion that was never shown, but produced many of the Seth Thomas bloodline horses out there today. We lost him a few years ago.
The Connection has had many National Champions from the bloodline including D&S Pretty Little Angel Eyes (pictured below in Roadster), D&S Fast Break, BHR Joco’s Aint Mis Behavin (Horse of the Year in 2004), and D&S Little Town Flurt, an awesome mare that was undefeated at Nationals in 2004, and Performance Horse of the Year in 2005 (and pictured at left).

We are always trying to improve our line and, with that, we purchase new horses to keep moving forward. We did have some wonderful foals in 2007 from our Seth mares, and Courtney purchased D&S He’s So Fine (pictured above). He is not only fine; he is fabulous!
We took Fine to Nationals in 2007 and he had an awesome show, placing first in Park Harness Under, first in Park Harness Stakes, Under and a top 10 in Stallions, Under, all at the expert hand of Larry Parnell.
We have recently added to our Seth Thomas collection a mare we have wanted to purchase for years, D&S Marilyn Monroe, and also D&S Goodtimes. Also, a big thanks to Dale for allowing us to purchase D&S Little Jimmy Dickens, a 2007 Sorrel Palomino colt we are planning to use as a herd sire. Our newest addition is D&S Sugar Ray, a yearling stallion who will be spending the 2009 show season with Parnell Stables. (Linda Mecham is driving D&S Proud Mary in photo at left.)
We are anxiously waiting for five foals this spring.
We sold all of our foals last year before they were weaned and hope we have success in selling the 2009 crop. We we could keep them all, but room and finances don't allow it. So, here's hoping they will live up to their ancestors, now and in the future. The bloodline is enduring. It will be around for years to come. The Seth Thomas horses are always a step ahead of the crowd.
The Wave of the Future!
