Lil Darling Farms ...

Lil Darling Farms is located in the salt grasses of East Texas – between Houston and Beaumont only a couple of miles off Interstate 10. While we started off as a small operation the farm has matured into a major breeding facility. Lil Darling Farms stands approximately six miniature stallions – most either National Grand Champions themselves, producers of National Champions or the get of some of the best bloodlines in the miniature industry. We are also standing four Shetland stallions (but that's another story)!!! Our stallions are utilized solely on mares owned by the farm – either raised here or purchased to compliment the stallions and maintain the high quality we demand of their offspring.

The broodmares are the backbone of this breeding program with many former show/driving mares in the herd. Thru our association with Larry Parnell and the Lutkes we were able to aquire one of their Seth Thomas broodmares – BHR Amy. She was the beginning of our involvement with the Seth Thomas Collection. Fortune continued to smile on our little operation when the Lutkes graciously allowed us to utilize one of the Seth Thomas stallions on a couple of the broodmares running with Amy. These foals have been shown with much success for both Lil Darling Farms and their new owners.

Now we have our very own Seth Thomas stallion – D & S Vintage Silver (pictured at right) and he is the reigning National Grand Champion Pleasure Driving 32 to 34 at the tender age of 3. Vinnie was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in both halter and driving this year. Vinnie will be a very busy boy in 2007 as he will be breeding mares as well as showing. Foals, yearlings, two-year olds and mature stock are available for purchase. Lil Darling Farms is the prefix used on our miniatures while we utilize LDF as a suffix on the Shetlands. Jeanne McClanahan is the owner as well as the operator/breeding manager/farmhand etc. of this operation.

Gold Mine Farms ...

Gold Mine Farms began with the purchase of Captains Supreme Delight – an aging palomino mare raised by Bob & June Masters. Delight is simply gorgeous – a golden palomino classic. While she is no longer a spring chicken she still cackles like an old hen every year when she foals. Delight’s son – Masters Painted Delite Too 2000 – was purchased at the same sale as his dam. Bob, as we call him, was the 2001 Congress Grand Champion Classic Stallion, Under. Delight’s granddaughter – Chegs Fancy Dancer – was the Congress Grand Champion Classic Mare, Under. Pretty impressive for an old lady don’t you think??? We were so impressed with her we have since purchased another son – Masters Captains Little Dancer – to be our main herdsire. Our main farms are located deep in the Ozarks where we continue to "mine" for golden nuggets. Step carefully around the entrance to our gold mine – we hire only golden guard dogs and asses for protection. Rumor has it there’s another gusher ready to come in down around the old Spindle Top well – who knows, maybe our vein runs to black gold, Texas tea!!

Bandkamp ...

Bandkamp represents the part of Lil Darling's Shetland program whose foals' pedigrees go back to Dun Havens Drummer Boy. To date most of these foals are by John Doe – Larry Parnell’s beautiful bay driving stallion. Space has been reserved however for any future foals by PPS I C U Looking or Talking Trees Checkmate.
